Excerpt from Report of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction of North Carolina, 1899
Sir: - In compliance with Section 7, Article 3 of the Constitution, and with Section 2540 of the Code of North Carolina, I submit my report to you and through you to the Legislature of 1897. The report is for the scholastic years 1894-'95 and 1895-'96.
I also embrace in my report to the General Assembly the report for the last two terms of the Normal and Industrial School for White Women, at Greensboro, which report contains report of the Board of Directors, the report of the President, Dr. Charles D. McIver, and the report of Mr. E. J. Forney, Treasurer and Bursar of the institution. I have submitted such remarks and recommendations as seem to me best for the promotion of the public school interests and the improvement of our system of public schools - the schools for the people.
